Youth OF THE YEAR
Julia Marshall

Forest Hills Jewish Center

Julia Marshall is a junior drama major at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts. She is an actress and a diligent academic. She uses most other time to rehearse and perform in plays and musicals and she is a member of LaGuardia’s mock trial team.

Julia has been an active participant of her shul’s community, attending its educational programs since she was two years old. She now really enjoys learning and reading Torah at the Forest Hills Jewish Center and particularly appreciates the musicality and trope of it. Last year, Julia spent every Sunday morning serving as a madricha for Kitah Bet. She loved interacting with the young children and enhancing their religious knowledge and experience. Julia also has been an active member of her synagogue’s Hebrew High School, and of Tseerim, Kadima and now USY. She attended Encampment for two years, and enjoys being a part of USY programs. She also has performed at Forest Hills Jewish Center’s open mic coffee house for the last ten years. At home, she loves helping to lead sedarim and other holiday celebrations.

You may notice that Julia’s socks don’t match. She has done this on purpose every day since kindergarten, as she thinks it shows her individuality. She loves elephants and even did her Bat Mitzvah project on conservation efforts that help the elephants in Africa.

Julia wants to thank her parents and her Jewish community, and the FHJC Men’s Club for honoring her with this award. Support Julia Marshall by placing an ad in her honor.
