YOUTH OF THE YEAR
Emma Sassouni

Temple Israel of Great Neck

Immersed in Judaism through Temple Israel’s Beth HaGan preschool, Religious School, and Waxman High School, Emma observes tradition and ritual while making them her own. Emma participates at Shabbat and holiday services, especially enjoying chanting Haftorot and blowing the shofar.

Since graduating high school, Emma has continued her passion for academics, leadership, music, and sports. She is a freshman at the Macaulay Honors College at Baruch, pursuing a path in accounting or another business field. Emma leads her class as the elected council representative for the college. Emma is also involved in clubs, including Baruch College’s Women in Business, Macaulay Business Club, and Lexington Music. She actively works out and maintains a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, Emma runs her own private math tutoring business, Learn With Emma.

Emma has tapped into her roots and crafted her unique Jewish life. She has used it to foster connections to others in the Jewish community and beyond. She has found both value and meaning in keeping her style of practice. She is very close to her siblings Sophie, Cy, and Leila and her parents Rebecca and Sassan. They get together every Shabbat and holiday with the extended branches of the family engaging with one another to strengthen the bond that ties them together.

We are extremely proud of Emma and all the incredible work she does for our synagogue, community, and world. This honor is yet another well-deserved recognition. May you go from strength to strength. Support Emma Sassouni by placing an ad in her honor.
