YOUTH OF THE YEAR
Alexandra Levine

Temple Beth Sholom

Alexandra Levine is a Junior at the Wheatley School in Old Westbury, NY. She lives in East Hills with her parents, David and Barbara. Like her sisters, Rachel and Lauren, she attended Temple Beth Sholom pre-school and Hebrew School. Currently, she works part-time in the Hebrew School with the sixth graders.

Judaism has always been an integral part of Alexandra’s life: She enjoys celebrating holidays and Shabbat with her family. Alexandra serves on her BBYO chapter board where she is in charge of Jewish engagement and community service initiatives. She regularly attends regional and international conventions with friends from across New York and the United States.

Academically, Alexandra is a member of the National Honor Society. She has taken, and continues to take, a rigorous course schedule including numerous AP classes. Alexandra’s favorite subject is Spanish. She is a member of the Spanish Honor Society and the Spanish Club. She has been awarded a Gold Medal and two Silver medals by the National Spanish Exam for her excellence in Spanish. She also enjoys her time as a member of the Connections Club.  The Club works with special needs students in the High School.

She loves to travel and has visited numerous Spanish speaking countries in order to hone her linguistic skills as well as learn the cultures.  Those places include Peru, Spain, Mexico and Puerto Rico.  Her hope is that her affinity and love of Spanish will incorporate well into her professional life.

Alexandra is a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald house in Queens. Working at the front desk, she provides a friendly face to greet residents, many of whom have had rough days at the hospital.

Alexandra is honored to be recognized for this prestigious award. She will continue to inspire the youth of Temple Beth Sholom. Support Alexandra Levine by placing an ad in her honor.
