Marc Altheim 

Congregation L’Dor V’Dor

Marc Altheim has been a member of Congregation L’ Dor v’ Dor for over 25 years. He has ably served on the Board and various committees and has supported many important initiatives at the synagogue.  Marc is married to his high school sweetheart, Hope, for 31 years, and they have three adult children, Amanda (and Jordan), Rachel (and Robby) and Robby, that provide constant joy for them. 

Marc is currently the owner of a yoga studio, Know Yoga Know Bliss, in Manhasset. The studio is dedicated to providing traditional forms of Yoga that strengthen and heal the body, mind and soul. Marc regularly teaches at the studio.  His classes focus on breathing, alignment, stretching and conditioning.

Prior to operating the yoga studio Marc was a founding partner at a real estate development firm, Atlantic Development Group, in New York City. The company focused primarily on multi-family projects in the Bronx and Manhattan. Marc also founded a company, Beach Tennis USA, that introduced the sport of beach tennis to the USA and Canada.  Early in his career he worked for New York State and headed a non-profit, HELP USA, that developed and operated transitional housing for homeless families.

Over the years he has served in a Board/Advisor capacity at UJA, Israel Bonds, MS Society, Met Council, HELP USA, Neve Hana and The Tommy Brull Foundation. He is currently on the national Board of Trustees at Chabad on Campus International and spends considerable time working with the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation.

Marc is a graduate of UMass-Amherst and the Cardozo School of Law (he passed the Bar).  Recently, he attended graduate school at the Jewish Theological Seminary and hopes to continue toward a degree in Jewish Studies at the Seminary. Support Marc Altheim by placing an ad in his honor.
