Hayim Biton

Hayim Biton and his family have been proud members of Congregation L’Dor V’Dor for 13 years. Originally from Israel, Hayim came to America and married his wife, Yone. Together, they have three children and three grandchildren. Continuing a family tradition of education and community involvement, his children attended Solomon Schechter, and his grandchildren are currently enrolled there as well.

Growing up in Israel with six siblings in a one-bedroom home, Hayim was raised in an orthodox household. Despite religion always being important to him, he struggled to enjoy services due to his early experiences. However, after joining L’Dor V’Dor, his perspective began to change. Initially attending services only a few times a year, Hayim now looks forward to participating almost every Shabbat, a transformation he credits to Rabbi Yaffe and Cantor Shron, who reignited his love for synagogue life.

As an active member of the congregation, Hayim embraces his responsibilities, including reading the Torah every other Shabbat and building the Sukkah for Sukkot. He is always eager to help in any way he can. Receiving the “Man of the Year” honor is a profound privilege for Hayim, and he looks forward to continuing his journey with the L’Dor V’Dor community.
