Steve Aronowitz

It is with deepest gratitude that I receive the NY Metro Region Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs ‘Man of the Year’ award. As President of Congregation L’Dor V’Dor in Little Neck, NY, for 17 years, I know that any individual recognition is due to the collaborative efforts of so many of my friends at the synagogue I’ve called home for over 30 years. Receiving this honor clearly puts me in an elite group.

Like those who have been honored before me, my love for our synagogue grows each day. Surely, we have been faced with many challenges; without question, we will become stronger as we respond to whatever the test.

The rewards of serving our shul have been significant. My wife, Julie, and I, rejoiced with friends and family as our son, Jordan, became a Bar Mitzvah in 2009. My devotion to the Jewish community includes my role as Camp Director at The 92nd Street Y, a role I served for 10 years.

I currently serve as an Adjunct Professor at Long Island University POST in the Department of Educational Leadership. I was principal at Hicksville Middle School for 10 years and held numerous administrative positions in education leading up to that appointment.

Today, you can find me behind the microphone at the USMMA as its Baseball Announcer. I was also the director of public relations for the Long Island Ducks minor league hockey club.

My professional experiences aside, Congregation L’Dor V’Dor, Oakland Little Neck Jewish Center continues to be an integral part of my life. The time I spend at services and at various functions is not solely out of requirement; rather, it is my choice to be here with my friends.
