Congregation Beth Tikvah 2026

David Kamlet, and his wife Esther, have been members of the former Wantagh Jewish Center and Congregation Beth Tikvah for 35 years and he became active in the Men’s Club and the congregation almost from day one.
Born and raised in the Bronx, Dave graduated from Hofstra College and spent 38 years as a science teacher in Lynbrook. Following his retirement from teaching he spent a number of years working for News12 as a reporter and editor for their website.
Dave is a past-president of the Men’s Club and is currently co-vice-president for Religious Activities. He also serves on the Programming committee and arranges guest speakers for meetings. Aside from his role in the Men’s Club he serves Congregation Beth Tikvah in many ways. He is a past- president as well as a past-chairman of the board.
David is the Cemetery co-chairman as well as the chairman of the Shiva committee. Other committees he serves on include the Religious Activities, Refurbishment and Security committees. He often leads the daily minyans and Shabbat services as well as leading the Community Yizkor service on Yom Kippur.
Away from the shul, Dave leads an active life. His favorite hobbies are boating and fishing as well attending Yankees and Mets games.
Additionally, Dave officiated seven different sports from the youth level to college and was the school instructor for those seeking to become football or lacrosse officials. His involvement in sports also got him involved with the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame where he eventually served as its director and still serves as a senior advisor.
Dave is truly honored and proud to be honored as the FJMC Man of the Year and congratulates his fellow honorees.
