 ian provides a competent adult with a terminal illness with a prescription
  for a lethal dose of a drug at the request of the patient\, which the pat
 ient intends to use to end his or her life.\nAs of life 2025/early 2026\, 
 Governor Kathy Hochul reached an agreement with the New York State Legisla
 ture to pass the Medical Aid in Dying Act\, making it poised to become law
 . The legislation allows terminally ill\, mentally capable adults with les
 s than six months to live to self-administer medication to end their lives
